Dirigida por &lt;a href=\\\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isao_Takahata\\\" data-type=\\\"URL\\\" data-id=\\\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isao_Takahata\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noreferrer noopener\\\">Isao Takahata&lt;\/a>, colaborador habitual del Sr. Miyazaki, la pel\u00edcula, de 1994, atribuye al Sr. Miyazaki la \\\"planificaci\u00f3n\\\", y es f\u00e1cil de entender: sus preocupaciones ecol\u00f3gicas, sus matices y su lirismo ocasional la sit\u00faan directamente dentro de la obra de Ghibli.&lt;br>&lt;br>El argumento gira en torno a un enclave de tanuki (criaturas parecidas a los mapaches del folclore japon\u00e9s) amenazado por la invasi\u00f3n del desarrollo urbano, que inicia una campa\u00f1a de enga\u00f1o en las obras de construcci\u00f3n, gracias a su poder para cambiar de forma (una capacidad, seg\u00fan se nos dice, compartida con los zorros y \\\"algunos gatos viejos\\\").&lt;br>&lt;br>Para prepararse, una abuela luchadora entrena a los inexpertos a transformarse con una voltereta de pie; una expedici\u00f3n busca a tres distantes y marchosos expertos en cambiar de forma; y unos mapaches van de inc\u00f3gnito por las calles de la ciudad. Mientras tanto, una pareja corteja y se reproduce.&lt;br>&lt;br>Con tantos personajes y subtramas difusas, y un ritmo muy intenso, la atenci\u00f3n puede ser esquiva. A la dispersi\u00f3n se suma un estilo visual que vacila entre el realismo po\u00e9tico y la caricatura c\u00f3mica; las representaciones dram\u00e1ticas se alternan con las payasadas de ojos saltones, un contraste que sugiere el naturalismo de \\\"La princesa Mononoke\\\" de Miyazaki junto con su anterior \\\"El castillo de Cagliostro\\\".&lt;br>&lt;br>Muchos pasajes son sorprendentes. (Algunos -como el de un mapache atropellado en un charco ensangrentado- resultar\u00e1n perturbadores para los espectadores m\u00e1s j\u00f3venes).&lt;br>&lt;br>&lt;br>Como en las mejores pel\u00edculas de Miyazaki, no hay una resoluci\u00f3n f\u00e1cil. The result is beautiful from the visual and design point of view, and also of a fantasy that surpasses the surreal, almost like a text by Rabelais that comes to life. class=\"uagb_review_summary_desc\">\"Pom Poko,\" one of the latest offerings in the Studio Ghibli retrospective at the IFC Center, was not directed by the studio's animation master, <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hayao_Miyazaki\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hayao_Miyazaki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hayao Miyazaki<\/a>but it certainly has its influence. Directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isao_Takahata\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isao_Takahata\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Isao Takahata<\/a>a regular collaborator of Mr. Miyazaki, the 1994 film credits Mr. Miyazaki with \"planning,\" and it's easy to understand: its ecological concerns, nuances and occasional lyricism place it squarely within Ghibli's oeuvre.<br><br>The plot revolves around an enclave of tanuki (raccoon-like creatures from Japanese folklore) threatened by encroaching urban development, who initiate a campaign of deception on construction sites, thanks to their power to shape-shift (an ability, we are told, shared with foxes and \"some old cats\").<br><br>To prepare, a feisty grandmother trains the inexperienced to transform with a standing somersault; an expedition searches for three aloof, marching shape-shifting experts; and raccoons go incognito through the city streets. Meanwhile, a couple courts and breeds.<br><br>With so many diffuse characters and subplots, and a very intense pace, attention can be elusive. Adding to the dispersion is a visual style that vacillates between poetic realism and comic caricature; dramatic depictions alternate with doe-eyed antics, a contrast that suggests the naturalism of Miyazaki's \"Princess Mononoke\" along with his earlier \"Cagliostro's Castle.\"<br><br>Many passages are startling. (Some - such as a raccoon run over in a bloody puddle - will be disturbing to younger viewers.)<br><br><br>As in Miyazaki's best films, there is no easy resolution. But the supreme act of endurance is a glorious parade of <a href=\"https:\/\/carolidilli.tattoo\/en\/iconos-del-tatuaje-japones\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"27\">mystical figures<\/a> for the city: a last defense of endangered animals and the pleasures of enchantment in the face of a bloodless industrial world.<\/p><div class=\"uagb_review_average\"><span
