In 2012, I have been working on a series of drawings<\/strong> of girls in black and white with different themes and I wanted to dedicate one of them to my homeland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea was to use elements that could identify Brazil and me at the same time. To do so, I decided to personify an Indian with flowers and animals.<\/strong> characteristic of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice of the Indian woman was partly due to the fact that I was living in another continent. It got me thinking about the cultural differences between South America and Europe. From the indigenous traits and habits that we Brazilians have<\/strong> and of the many native words and myths<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, I wanted to portray an Indian because I admire their way of being and how they coexist in nature, I am fascinated by their customs and their appearance, with their feathers, ornaments and body paintings. With this, I wanted to make a small tribute to the Indians of all tribes.<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

After much research, I chose to illustrate a Caiap\u00f3 (or Kayap\u00f3)<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em> Their shaved eyebrows make the looks of the women of this clan even more imposing. Their ethnic necklaces and bracelets are primitive and at the same time seem to belong to the latest fashion trends. Equally distinguished is the symmetrical design of their body painting, which is done to perfection and surely serves as an inspiration not only to me but also to many tattoo artists and other artists around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nature stands out in Brazil and its strength is constantly felt. The land is fertile, wherever you go plants and animals abound and wherever you are there is an explosion of colors, sounds and smells. For this reason it seemed to me as important as the figure of the Indian to represent the flora and fauna typical of there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To symbolize the flora, I opted for two flowers<\/strong> that are very common throughout the country, the hibiscus and the passion fruit flower. I love these two flowers for their beauty and the meaningful names they have in Portuguese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We call hibiscus V\u00eanus Mime<\/em><\/strong>I see it as a flower worthy of representing the Roman goddess of love, beauty and fertility. And for this reason I have found them ideal to wrap my beautiful Indian Caiap\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To reinforce the same idea I tattooed him a passion fruit flower, also known there as Flor da <\/em><\/strong>Paix\u00e3o<\/em><\/strong>. It is attributed with aphrodisiac properties and also for its exuberant beauty, maracuj\u00e1\u00a8 flower. <\/em>is used in Brazil as a compliment to beautiful girls. What better flowers to represent Brazilian girls?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local fauna varies greatly depending on the region you are in Brazil, and there are many species that are common there and in other parts of South America. To identify the country well, I chose some animals that we love and see every day.<\/strong>inevitably by being there, not live, but on our currency the real<\/em>specifically on some banknotes: La arara<\/em>(macaw), the beija-flor<\/em> (hummingbird) and the on\u00e7a<\/em> (jaguar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A la arara<\/strong> and the beija-flor<\/strong> I drew them on the woman's skin, and in fact they are very popular motifs among my fellow countrymen. The beautiful macaws with their colorful feathers can be good for a woman's skin. tattoos<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the hummingbirds, I would risk to say that they are constantly in the \u00a8top ten\u00a8 of female tattoos in Brazil. I am very fond of them. I love the name they have in my native language, beija-flor<\/em> (flower-kissing). These bee-birds are out there in the springs kissing as many flowers as they can, and no matter how often you see them, it is always a joy to behold their sequined colors and the speed with which they move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally to the on\u00e7a<\/strong>I put him in the background, passing behind the frame of taquara<\/em>(Brazilian bamboo). It almost looks like a common leopard's cloth, but one eye is peeking out, watching us. There are jaguars in many parts of Brazil, and sometimes there are traces of their presence, but we hardly have the luck (or chance) to discover them in the forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have just made a long description of this drawing and what I wanted to represent. However, what matters most is that the viewer can perceive for himself what the image conveys, and whatever it conveys, it is fine with me. All points of view are valid. I keep the pleasure of having done it and sharing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
