This is Luci and she is my co-worker at Katattoomba. She had noticed these little goldfish a few months ago, when I started a collection of small drawings inspired by Japanese iconography. This one in particular belongs to the Kingyo series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goldfish - Kingyo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Japan, as in other parts of the Orient and the world, the Kingyo<\/i> (goldfish) symbolizes prosperity and abundance.<\/b>. In traditional Japanese tattooing, they are usually depicted in red or black. The red goldfish brings good luck, while the black goldfish keeps bad luck away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SHUNGA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Apart from this, if you look closely, Luci's fish are quite special. At first you don't notice anything strange, and if you don't look closely, you don't see it. The red fish above has a vagina on its belly and the black fish has a head shaped like a glans. <\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luci's tattoo is inspired in illustrations shunga<\/i> <\/b>(<\/b>\u6625\u753b<\/b>)<\/b> literally \"spring images\", \"spring\" being a common metaphor for sexual intercourse in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shunga<\/i> is a popular subgenre of Japanese visual production belonging to the genre Ukiyo-E<\/i> (\u6d6e\u4e16\u7d75) or \"floating world prints\", made in Japan between the 17th and 20th centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shunga<\/i> has sex as its main theme<\/b>. Erotic scenes, explicit sex and all kinds of obscene caricatures are represented. One of the most striking characteristics of these engravings is the enormous size of the genitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing an erotic or pornographic tattoo<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The choice to make a drawing with an erotic or pornographic theme should always be well evaluated by both the client and the tattooist. It is important to remember that a tattooist can always refuse to perform a tattoo if he\/she wants to<\/b>and one of the reasons may be <\/b>that carries a symbology contrary to its ethical values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generally in the irezumi<\/i>when the customer chooses a style image shunga<\/i>The tattoo artist usually recommends tattooing it in small size and in hidden parts of the body.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of Luci's goldfish<\/b>The drawing had been prepared by me and therefore it is clear that I was very excited to do it. For me it is not at all common to have the opportunity to tattoo a drawing. shunga<\/i>. In addition, as is an ambiguous drawing<\/b>I don't like the erotic aspect of it, few look at what's really there. I like that it is pornographic and delicate at the same time<\/b>and Luci too! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
