This is Denis. He came to Katatttoomba and asked for a colorful dragon for his arm. He was wearing a star with about 12 centimeters in thick lines in the elbow area, and was sure he wanted to cover it up with the new tattoo.
At the store, you have been guided to use the laser resource for tattoo removal with the intention of partially erasing the star, before starting with the cover up. And so he did.
A few months later, after a few sessions with my partner Susana from Nothing is foreverHe came to order the drawing for his next tattoo with me.
The truth is that Denis did very well to get his old tattoo lightened before starting on the new one. He was patient in postponing the dragon and had to pay a little extra for the laser sessions.
In the end, with total certainty I can say that he got a much better tattoo than it would have been if he had not used the laser. on the star I had.
Certain tattoos can be very difficult to cover up. And the stars on the elbow that have been so fashionable a few years ago are among them. Although they are not usually very big, they have a very easy to identify shape.
In some cases, even if a good cover upIf the tattooist does not use large amounts of black in the coverage area, some parts of the star are still visible.
This was the case for Denis, who had a double-line composite star. And when it is placed on the elbow, everything becomes more complicated. It is a painful area and the application of the ink on this part of the body takes a little longer, because it is a joint and the skin is rougher and wrinkled.
To cover this type of figure there are usually two options: the first is to use a drawing with a solid layer of black ink in the coverage area. And the second option, which is usually more popular, is to make a new larger tattoo, full of lines, different colors and lots of dark areas.
In this sense, the old tattoo to be covered always totally conditions the composition and the color application of the new tattoo..
Denis, by giving himself a few laser sessions, managed to make the star I had much clearer and to give me much more freedom in preparing and making the dragon I had ordered.
As you can see in the photos, you can hardly notice that there was nothing previously tattooed on his elbow. And we have been able to use the colors we wanted, without having to worry about darkening the new drawing that spreads all over the arm according to the star.
For Denis' arm, I chose red and green as the main colors. He asked for a tattoo with bright colors and with the star on his elbow partially erased and his skin so white, there was no impediment.
It is known that complementary colors create harmony in a composition and as a rule they always work. Red and green are complementary colors, and green is the only secondary color that has the same intensity as the primary color it accompanies.
In other words, when it comes to achieving an intense and vibrant color palette for a tattoo, nothing like having red and green as main colors.. In addition to a cool customer like this one, who totally let himself be advised.
Denis started the tattoo in October 2017 and finished it in March 2018. There have been 6 sessions, in which we tattooed from 2 to 3 hours in each one, apart from the time dedicated to the drawing and preparation of the tattoo. In total it has been about 14 hours tattooing to make this full arm tattoo.
