brazilian jiu-jitsu

The brazilian jiu-jitsu is a Brazilian martial art, combat sport and self-defense system of Japanese origin that is mainly focused on hand-to-hand fighting on the ground. Its techniques include throws, takedowns, joint dislocations, strangulations, submissions and formerly some strikes. This art comes from the ground fighting techniques of the Kodokan school of judo (ne waza), which were brought to Brazil by Mitsuyo Maeda and other judo masters.

Likewise, his sporting aspect was developed mainly by Carlos Gracie, who passed on his knowledge to the rest of his family, who used it extensively in the competitive arena of the Brazilian ring.

There are several ways to write jiu-jitsu and I think they are all correct, they just change depending on where you are. I would just like to clarify that they all refer to Brazilian or Japanese jiu-jitsu. Among the spellings used are jiu-jitsu, jiu jitsu and jujutsu.

It is also worth remembering that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uses two different acronyms, depending on the country: BJJ or JJB.
