Munawari o munewari literally means "cut chest" or "divided chest" in Japanese. This is the name given in traditional Japanese tattooing for the style of composition that saves the central part of the chest and abdomen. In other words, the entire torso is tattooed, except for the central line, giving the effect that one is wearing a completely open shirt.
