This small illustration is inspired by the red crab. (Gecarcoidea natalis). It is a species that lives on Christmas Island and Cocos Islands. This Australian crustacean also has a kind of face on its shell, although it is not as well defined as the Japanese heikegani crab (Heikeopsis Japonica).
When drawing it, I highlighted the human-like shapes on its shell. This species is not related to the Heikegani legend.I simply wanted to bring to light another equally curious crab.
