Ogún is also known as Ògún, Oggun, Ogum o Ogoun. It is one of the deities of the pantheon. Yorubathe orisha of iron, war, agriculture, roads, hunting, technology and protector of craftsmen and blacksmiths.
In religion Yoruba (which gives rise to the Candomblé, Umbanda and to the Santeria) is cited as the first of the orishas who comes to Earth. They refer to him as the owner of the metal, the mountains and the roads.
In these religions originating from the Yoruba, Ogún is syncretized with Christian saints.
