Umbanda is a religion founded in Brazil in the early twentieth century. It is an eclectic religion, which has taken elements coming from various religious aspects, with a marked syncretic character, even though it does not support any cult to the Orishas African saints, nor the saints of Catholicism.
The religious values of Umbanda are derived from Afro cults, native cults and the Kardecist spiritist doctrine. It may also share rules and principles from oriental religions, such as the Buddhism and Hinduism.
