Crab Katana Tattoo

This is Sara. When she came to get tattooed, she was finishing a stage of studies in Galicia, her homeland. At this moment, a trip abroad awaited her, to continue expanding her knowledge and experience something different, in another place with other people.

First, she got a goldfish with me. She wanted a new tattoo before this long period away from home. Sara collects tattoos and enjoyed the moment by getting a tattoo with me, aware that the tattooed goldfish carries the memory of an important change in her life.

Then, to my surprise, he came back for more again before the big trip, and made these crab claws with samurai sword hilt. A curious idea I had by making a series of drawings depicting the history of samurai crabs.

I was very happy that Sara liked this drawing. Just when she came, I had just published a post talking about the history of the Heikegani, in a new web session: Japanese Tattoo Icons.

The goldfish and katana-crab that I have tattooed on Sara's arm belongs to a set of small drawings inspired by Japanese iconography that I have made in 2019.

Among these illustrations is the Kingyo Serieswith some representations of golden fish and the Heikegani Serieswith drawings related to the theme of samurai crabs.
