It is the process by which something clean (in the case of a freshly made tattoo) comes into contact with foreign substances, generally harmful to health. A typical example of cross-contamination in tattoos occurs when a newly tattooed person touches his tattoo, and previously his hands were not properly cleaned after coming into contact with something contaminated.
