Does getting a tattoo hurt a lot?

tatuarse duele mucho

The pain level of a tattoo will depend on a few factors:

Body part you choose:

Some areas are more sensitive because they have more nerve endings, or because the tendons or bones are more exposed.

There are also parts of the skin that are more sensitive because they are in areas close to internal or external injuries of all types. For example, if you tattoo an area of skin that is red from too much sun or an area with a muscle contracture, you will probably feel a little more pain.

The drawing of your choice:

The pain caused by a tattoo is usually quite bearable, but it is true that long lines can hurt more than short ones, or that a solid filling can hurt more than the application of shadows. In other words, depending on the details of a drawing, it can be more or less painful.

As long as it lasts:

Normally, the first 10 to 15 minutes of a tattoo are usually the most intense pain, basically because pain is an important defense mechanism of your body, alerting you that something is going on.

After the first few minutes, your body senses that this pain is constant and reacts differently, fighting the pain and trying to heal the wound.

Based on the experiences I have with my clients, almost all of them are able to last up to 2.5 hours tattooing without major difficulties.

After 2 hours and a half, this ability to withstand pain, in the vast majority of people, begins to diminish. And for this reason, I prefer to do large tattoos in sessions, as many as necessary, each of approximately 3 hours.

And mainly, the physical and mental state in which you find yourself.:

Depending on your condition, it may be better not to get a tattoo or to wait for some time before you can get a tattoo (click here to learn more about tattoos). CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR TATTOOING).

If you are ready to get a tattoo, there are a few things that can help improve your physical condition and increase your resistance to pain. For example, being calm when you go to get tattooed, or getting a good night's sleep the nights before tattooing can greatly influence your pain levels (click here to learn more). REMEMBER

The pain passes, the tattoo stays.

Do not choose the tattoo site, the design and size of your tattoo thinking about how much it will hurt.

You can handle the pain. In addition to being able to prepare for the tattoo session, you will be able to do short sessions if you have a low pain tolerance.
